The Olive Mill at Hacienda Molino Nuevo

The Olive Mill

19th Century Oil Mill

Hacienda Molino Nuevo is an estate passed down from mother to daughter for at least four generations, dedicated to olive cultivation without the use of pesticides.

Historical painting of the Hacienda

The current owner decided, through a deep renovation, to transform it into a rural guesthouse to share with others this source of childhood memories, the mild temperatures, the spectacular views and the quiet green of the centuries-old olive trees.

The restored Olive Mill

The Islamic period, which in Algodonales lasted until 1484, transformed the area, which came to be irrigated by various water channels, such as the Fuente de Cristóbal Gómez, which supplies the Mill, giving a central place to the cultivation of olives and cotton. The latter was so important during the Muslim era that it gave its name to the town of Algodonales.

Inside the Olive Mill

The estate has been called Molino Nuevo since the 18th century when an even older Mill was rebuilt.

Mill stone floor

In the second half of the 19th century, the Farmhouse and the Olive Mill were rebuilt again, having suffered from the advance of Napoleonic troops (1810-1812) along the Guadalete river, which borders the estate.

Hydraulic presses

The recently restored Olive Mill contains all the characteristic elements of the oil industry: Endless Screw, Stone Floor, Hydraulic Presses, Mixer, Drums, Clay Jars, as well as Signs and Audio guides explaining the Oil Production process.
